For whatever reason, the music is laggy during scene transitions in the web version. I've so far been unable to fix it, but the Windows version is working fine. If possible, I'd highly recommend trying that one!

This is a prototype for a monster-collecting game that I'm making. Naturally, it's not exactly finished, but I wanted to get feedback for the game I currently have working.

Controls

In the overworld, use WASD or the arrow keys to move, and shift or space to run. Alternatively, you can click and hold in the direction you want to go. There's many creatures (called ponpai) running about: The ones that chase after you are enemies, and the others are NPCs - click near them to talk to them! The building has a strong fight inside, so enter through the front door! Or if you want, you can explore the forest to the south (you'll see a path leading down)!

Pressing E will open the menu, where you can swap out your team, change their starting positions, or look at the bestiary, among other things.

  • When swapping out your team, drag the ones you want into the slots on the right. You need at least one ponpai on your team, but the rest is up to you. You can drop a ponpai into the same spot to check their information, as well as give them an item, change their attacks, rename them, or unfriend them altogether!
  • Changing the positions is the same as swapping out your team: Just drag and drop into position. Note that you can only have three ponpai on stage at a time.
  • The bestiary will be filled out as you fight ponpai. Click on any of the ponpai to read more about them!

Each enemy has a random set of ponpai, so be sure to try out a bunch of them! If you need to practice, there's a Pendle in your home that will give you a basic fight.

Battles are turn-based, and have three of your ponpai fighting against three enemies. You can move the currently selected ponpai with WASD or the arrow keys (or click the tile you want to move to), then choose an attack by clicking the buttons at the bottom of the screen (this will end their turn). Instead of an attack, you can also click one of your reserve ponpai to swap them into battle (which will also end the turn). You can hover over any ponpai or attack to learn more about them. You may also run into status effects, or tile traps that heal, damage, or block ponpai standing on them.

In battle, you can also use your coin purse to bribe ponpai (which naturally costs money), or feed them to restore hp. You can also flee the battle if things get too much!

I hope you enjoy! Any constructive feedback would be much appreciated :)
